On the Gili Islands

There are no cars or motorbikes on the Gilis: you get around by bicycle, on foot or by small horse cart (cidomo). Pack light, as you may carry your bags a short way from the boat. Flying straight into Lombok? You still need the visa and arrival card, but not the Bali tourist levy, which is only for visitors to Bali.

To mainland Lombok

From the Gilis, a short public or private boat takes you to Bangsal (opens in a new tab) or Teluk Nare harbour on Lombok. From there it's about two hours by car to Kuta Lombok and Mandalika, or about one hour to Senggigi. Flying from Bali to Lombok airport takes about 30 minutes.
